Rev. Jason Cook

Lead Pastor

Rev. Jason Cook is the Lead Pastor of The Refuge Conway Campus and is the CEO of The Refuge, INC. Pastor Jason has been the pastor for 12 years which began at 4th Ave in Conway. The Refuge has now grown into 5 locations, and 400 plus members. Pastor Jason and his wife, Chloe have been married for 18 years and have a beautiful miracle daughter named Alice. Pastor Jason works in various areas of ministry in the South Carolina Conference of the IPHC. He serves on the Executive Council for the South Carolina Conference of the IPHC. He also serves on the National Men’s Ministry board. In October 2022 he followed the leading of the Lord and helped establish the 43rd Hope Center- a Christ centered addiction recovery program. He has a heart of compassion and love for the broken, hurting, outcast and undone. He rejoices in people coming to Christ and growing in their relationship with God.

Rev. Danielle Rogers

Administrative Assistant

Rev. Danielle serves as the church administrative assistant. She also serves in the children's ministry at times and has served in youth ministry as well. Rev. Danielle is a local licensed minister with the IPHC. Danielle and her husband Chase have been together for 7 years and have been married since March 15, 2019. Chase serves in the sound booth, working on the online livestream services and serves on the security team, as well as the usher team. They have lived in Horry County for 6 years, they have two girls & 3 dogs. If you have any questions about The Refuge, upcoming events or ministries please do not hesitate to reach out by calling the church office Monday through Thursday!

Rev. Dr. Brandon Hutson

Worship Pastor

Pastor Brandon and Danielle Hutson have the honor of leading our church in worship. We have a phenomenal team of singers, musicians, media, and sound techs. We could not do what we do without our team. Pastor Brandon and Danielle have been married since May 24, 2003, and they have two children, Olivia and Myles. They have served as Lead Pastors, Associate Pastors, and Worship Pastors. Their desire is to serve the church in whatever capacity the Lord chooses to use them. They are thankful to be on staff and we are thankful to have them leading the congregation of The Refuge in worship!

Rev. Debbie Carpenter

Children's Pastor

Pastor Debbie Carpenter has been the Children's Pastor at The Refuge for 8 years. Mrs. Debbie is married to Mr. David who also works alongside her to help in any way he can. Mrs. Debbie ensures that each child is taught the love of God, & how to show that love to others. She oversees Refuge Nursery (0-3), Wee Church (4-7) & RefugeKidZ (9-12). You can always find Mr. David at RefugeKidZ Check-In or behind the grill at one of our many Refuge events! They strive to make sure each child not only feels loved but knows that they are!

Rev. Shane Merrill

Outreach Pastor

Pastor Shane and his wife Latoya have 7 children (5 boys, 2 girls) and 5 grandchildren .Pastor Shane was born and raised in Brevard, NC. He has served as Lead Pastor in Tryon, NC and Charlotte, NC. Pastor Shane serves as our Outreach Pastor. He also assisted in the opening of The Hope Center - a Christ centered addiction recovery program. He is an ordained minister with the IPHC. Pastor Shane has a heart to see the broken made whole; to see the addicted find freedom, and to see their hearts healed through Christ love. His wife Latoya was born and raised in Huntington, WV. She is the founder and director of Lighthouse of Destiny which assists mothers with supplies for their newborns and children. Lighthouse of Destiny is partnered with The Refuge and participates in various events throughout the year to raise awareness for alternatives to abortion and resources to help provide items for mothers.

Mrs. Crystal Moose

Youth Pastor

Pastor Crystal and her husband Mark have 3 children, Aidan, Hope and Faith. They are from North Carolina but have lived in South Carolina for about 20 years. They have been in ministry for 12 years, serving in the Nursery, Kids Ministry and now in Youth Ministry. Mark has served on the board at The Refuge and currently serves on the security and encounter teams. They served as care Pastors and in Women and Men Ministries in Myrtle Beach. They both have a compassionate heart to see our Youth walk closely with Jesus on the road to the life He has for them. Their desire is that every young person know they are loved by our Heavenly Father and not a soul is left out.
